The year was 2014, and our founder David Ewing was walking around a mall in Dallas looking for the perfect gift for an anniversary. One store had jewelry, but that wasn’t really the right gift. Another store had clothes and shoes but again that wasn’t right either. David spent the next hour in the mall, walking from store to store, and finally went home empty-handed and frustrated.
At home, David tried looking for the perfect gift online and was again unsuccessful. Although there were a lot of “ideas” he realized nothing really compared to sharing powerful experiences like traveling to a new country and seeing the world. A trip to Paris, France didn’t fit in the budget but creating the experience seemed doable. He knew videos didn’t quite capture it, what was interesting to David was that there was no major online retailer that specialized in VR headsets for everyone. So, since it was 2014 and anything seemed possible at the time, David decided to quit his day job and start an online virtual reality headset retailer… and EagleEyeVR.com was born!
The original idea was to create a website that offered the absolute best selection in virtual reality headsets in terms of brands, styles, features, phone compatibility, and an exclusive VR content library of videos and games. Over the past 2 years, the brand and aspirations have evolved, and in addition to offering the best selection, with the goal to be the company that provides the absolute best service online — not just in VR headsets, but in any category.
So here is the vision:
One day, 75% of all retail transactions in the US will be online.
People will buy from the company with the best service and best selection.
EagleEyeVR.com will be that online store.
We believe that the speed at which a customer receives an online purchase plays a very important role in how that customer thinks about shopping online again in the future, so at EagleEyeVR.com, we have put a lot of focus on making sure our VR headsets get delivered to our customers as quickly as possible. In order to do that, we warehouse everything that we sell, and unlike most other online retailers, we don’t make an item available for sale unless it is physically present in our warehouse.
